What is OPS sheet music management software?
OPS is a digital sheet music management platform built for orchestras, wind bands, and music schools. You upload any scanned score as a PDF and OPS automatically extracts each instrument part using OCR — no manual splitting. Parts are stored in a searchable library, shareable via public link or cross-ensemble Mediathek, and readable on iPad with Apple Pencil annotations via the OPS Scores app. It replaces paper archives, file servers, and scattered Dropbox folders with one organised system.
How does OCR part extraction work?
When you upload a full-score PDF, OPS analyses the file and identifies each instrument part by reading the voice labels printed on the score. Each voice is extracted as a separate PDF file. You then review the suggested names (e.g. 'Flute 1', 'Trombone'), correct any mis-detections, and save. The whole process takes 30–60 seconds for a large multi-part score. If your parts are already split, you can upload a ZIP of pre-split PDFs instead.
Can I share scores with other ensembles?
Yes. The Mediathek is a cross-organisation sharing system. You publish a score to the Mediathek and other ensembles can request access. You approve or reject requests per member. This makes it possible to lend scores between ensembles without emailing files — with a full access log for copyright compliance.
What annotation features does OPS Scores offer?
OPS Scores (iPadOS) supports Apple Pencil annotations layered on top of any PDF: pen, marker, and eraser tools with adjustable size and colour. Annotations are non-destructive — the original PDF is never modified. All annotations sync back to your OPS account and are available on any device. Per-page custom crops (pinch-to-zoom viewport) let you zoom in on a specific part of the page and save that crop as the default view for that page.
Does OPS work with any scanned score format?
OPS accepts PDF files. You can upload existing PDFs or use the built-in camera scanner in the OPS Scores iPad app to digitise paper scores on the spot. If your parts are already separated, upload a ZIP archive containing one PDF per voice and OPS will import each part directly without running OCR.
Can multiple musicians share the same score library?
Yes. Organisation libraries are shared across all members with the appropriate read permission. Each member can also maintain a personal library for private pieces. The Mediathek allows controlled cross-organisation sharing with per-member access grants — so you can lend a score to another ensemble without losing control of who can download it.
Does the iPad app work without internet?
Yes. OPS Scores is offline-first. The full library is cached on your device at all times, and new scores download automatically when you connect to Wi-Fi. Once downloaded, every annotation, crop, and PDF revision is available with no internet — ideal for rehearsal rooms and concert halls with poor connectivity.
