Parent portal
Music school parent portal — follow-up for families
Parents of music school pupils want to know when the next lesson is, how their child is progressing and whether there is an outstanding invoice. OPS gives them a dedicated portal — on the web or through OPS Mobile on iPhone — where they can see everything that concerns their child, add practice logs and read messages from teachers, without calling the school office.
Everything a parent needs in one place
Once a parent account is linked to a pupil, the parent portal shows upcoming sessions for the next 60 days, the courses their child is enrolled in, materials uploaded by the teacher, grades and term averages, term report cards in PDF, invoices, enrolment contracts and instruments currently on loan. Attendance is shown as read-only — parents can see when their child was present, absent, late or excused.
Parents can also add practice logs for their child and leave comments for the teacher, creating a direct communication channel without using external messaging apps. Push notifications keep parents informed of cancelled or moved sessions, new course materials, published grades and new messages — all delivered to OPS Mobile.
Inviting parents and managing accounts
You invite a parent directly from the Enrollments tab in School management: send an invitation email (the link is valid for 72 hours) or download an onboarding PDF with a QR code to hand out at registration. One parent account can be linked to several children — the portal switches between children using a simple selector.
If the parent's contact details are the same as the pupil's, tick 'Same contact as pupil' in the pupil record: address, phone and email are inherited automatically, with only the name staying separate. This avoids entering duplicate information when a parent and pupil share the same household contact details.
What the parent portal gives families
Upcoming sessions
Parents see the next 60 days of lessons for their child, including room, time and any cancellation or rescheduling notifications.
Grades and report cards
Term grades, averages and teacher comments are visible in real time. Term report card PDFs are auto-archived and downloadable at any time.
Attendance (read-only)
Parents can see when their child was present, absent, late or excused for each session. Attendance is entered by the teacher and is read-only for parents.
Invoices and contracts
Enrolment invoices are visible in the parent portal and can be downloaded as PDFs. Enrolment contracts with their signing status are also accessible.
Push notifications
Parents receive push notifications for cancelled or moved sessions, new materials, published grades and messages from teachers — directly on OPS Mobile.
Practice logs and comments
Parents can add practice logs for their child and leave comments in the teacher's inbox, creating a direct communication channel through the platform.

Frequently asked questions
Which plan includes the parent portal?
The parent portal is part of the School module, which is available on the Full plan (from €30/month for organisations).
How do I invite a parent?
Open the Enrollments tab in School management and find the pupil's row. Click the invite action to send an email to the parent — the link is valid for 72 hours. Alternatively, download the onboarding PDF with a QR code to give to the parent in person or by post.
Can one parent account be linked to several children?
Yes. A single parent account can be linked to multiple children in your school. The portal displays a selector at the top so the parent can switch between children.
Can parents modify attendance or grades?
No. Attendance is entered by teachers and shown as read-only for parents. Grades and report cards are also read-only. Parents can add practice logs and leave comments for the teacher.
How do parents access the portal?
Parents log in at app.ops-music.com using the account they created via the invitation link. They can also use OPS Mobile on iPhone to access the portal and receive push notifications.
What if the parent's contact details are the same as the pupil's?
Tick 'Same contact as pupil' in the pupil's record. The parent account will inherit the pupil's address, phone and email automatically, so you do not need to enter them twice. Only the parent's name stays separate.
